Solisumbra is a circular wall mirror featuring a handcrafted SPLOT® frame that offsets the glass from the surface, creating a three-dimensional suspension effect. Ideal for minimalist interiors, industrial lofts, or essential contemporary spaces, it acts as an architectural presence that defines the room through geometric rigor.
The name, merging the Latin terms "sol" and "umbra," narrates a profound dialogue: light born from shadow, clarity emerging from form.
Solisumbra meets the need for a mirror that speaks to modern architectural language. It is a bespoke narrative where reclaimed aluminum is elevated through the slow, manual process of the SPLOT® weave.
The frame, inspired by the mechanical precision of a gear, is lightened by a regular SPLOT® insert that creates a suspended ring of light.
This artisanal detail draws from the aesthetics of industrial design, where function evolves into a sculptural sign. The regular weave captures natural brightness, creating dynamic reflections that enhance the three-dimensional profile.
In a bespoke version, a rear LED system was integrated to illuminate the wall behind the mirror, amplifying the interplay between light and shadow.
The structure can further include storage sections or be personalized with specific colors. Handcrafted in Italy, Solisumbra remains a versatile tool for architects, allowing for the creation of light effects that reflect the profound sense of authentic form.
